Android version N supports split-screen multitasking apps. By using this feature, you’ll be able to use two different applications simultaneously. Additionally, it’s providing a better control for notifications than older versions. The rumors were also like new Android version N and Chrome are gonna be combined as Google announced to launch several chromebooks in 2016 which run on chrome OS.
Android version “N”
Google hasn’t been provided N with any name yet. According to the tradition, this operating system version is also suggested to be named as sweet treats, as we are familiar with Google’s previous ones which are lollipop, Marshmallow etc. As per the expectations and rumors, It may be Nutella, Nectar, Neopolitan or Nougat. Earlier, the CEO of Google Mr. Sundar Pichai said that they will go through an online poll to select the name.
It’s released today for the testing and getting the treatment from App developers. Google has released this as beta software because they want to make the device manufacturers familiar with this OS version before the usual OS launches.
Though, the Android phones which run latest Android OS, “Marshmallow” are about 3% only.
Till now, Google introduced its new OSs in summers but this time it’s earlier and like a surprise from Google.
Hiroshi Lockheimer, senior vice president of Android has written in a blog that the aim of this first preview release in March is to get feedback and provide something better to the Vendors this summer.
This feature allows the users to use multiple applications at the same time. Users will be able to copy the information from one application to the other one. There are slight changes in Settings and notifications as a result of advancement. It’s also been said that this is going to improve the life of the battery of your phone too.
Split–screen multitasking is not new in the market. Samsung has already introduced this in some of their smart phones and some other operating systems are also providing the same as Windows 10.
But as Android has a large number of users, this is much needed improvement and has a lot of significance.
Better Notification control
Android version N has a feature of bundled notifications. It sounds great. It is possible to see notifications in a stack and an expand option is also provided to separate each one. Notification panel is also redesigned and lives at the bottom of the power panel. The exciting feature is that you can directly reply to a notification without opening the app.
Google introduces this as the latest version N and soon it will be in the market as latest Android version. Till the time, Marshmallow is the latest Android version. Aside, just a few days before Google statistics report said that most widely used Android version is still Lollipop.
Around 36% of the Android phones are running on Lollipop which is going to be old after N and Marshmallow.
